The Baby Pearls final 15-member squad to the World Youth Netball Cup in Gibraltar will be named next month.
Manageress Lusiana Rakavono said there are currently 27 members of the extended squad including 10 overseas based players who will join the squad on July 2.
“There are five players from Australia and five from New Zealand,” she said.
“The girls know what they’re expected to do on the court, and they’ve been given the programme.
So speaking on that, they have a lot to work on, and I believe they’re all vying for the spot for the final 15.”
The side will host the New South Wales Fijians and Blaze where some players will join the local squad.
Rakavono indicated more matches will be possible following the final selection.
“We’re planning on more game time after the selection; the more game time they will have the better we prepare ourselves as we prepare for the World Cup.
“Preparation has been going on well; we had a scrimmage with the men’s team which gives us good platform for us to prepare for ourselves in terms of the intensity of the games.
“Some girls have opted out due to studies and commitments, and this has left the girls with 17 local girls before it was at 20.”
